NZB Grab Get it free

Setup in 3 steps

Your download has started. Here is everything you need to be grabbing your first file in a few minutes. No jargon, promise.

1

Download and install NZB Grab

If the download did not start, use the button below to grab it again. You will get a file called NZB Grab Setup.exe.

  1. Find NZB Grab Setup.exe in your Downloads folder and double-click it. There is nothing to unzip.
  2. If Chrome says the file may be harmful, click Keep. This just happens with brand new apps and is safe.
  3. If Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" box, click More info, then Run anyway. Same thing, it is safe.
  4. Follow the short installer, then open NZB Grab from your Start menu or desktop.

Add your Usenet provider details

NZB Grab downloads from Usenet, so it needs an account with a Usenet provider. If you do not have one yet, you can get set up in a couple of minutes here:

Get a Usenet account →

Once you have an account, your provider will give you a few details. In NZB Grab, open Settings (the cog), then Server, and enter:

  • Server address, sometimes called the host, for example news.yourprovider.com.
  • Port. Use the secure one, usually 563, and leave Use SSL turned on.
  • Username and password, the ones your provider gave you (not your website login).

Set your connections. This is the one number worth getting right. It is how many downloads NZB Grab runs at once, and your provider sets a maximum, often somewhere between 20 and 50. Find that figure on your provider's account page and put the same number, or a little under it, in the Connections box in NZB Grab. Too many and the provider may throttle you, too few and downloads are slower than they need to be.

Click Save, and the top of the app should show your server as connected.

Run it and download

You are ready. There are two easy ways to grab something:

  • Drag and drop. Drop any .nzb or .zip file straight onto the NZB Grab window, and it joins the queue and starts right away.
  • From a feed. With a Licensed key you can browse the built-in feeds and the top NZB sites inside the app, then search and grab with one click. See the plans if you fancy that.

Watch it work along the top: Downloading, then Checking files, then Repairing if needed, then Unpacking, then Done. When it finishes, hit Open folder to find your files, all unpacked and ready.

That is it. Everything else, the repairs and the unpacking, NZB Grab handles for you.
